As most of you know, I teach high school, and I’ve always enjoyed keeping in touch with former students.
Soooo when one of my former kiddos asked me to help her out with a school assignment, I jumped at the chance.
Let me back up a second…you should probably understand why this interview meant so much to me.
I teach some English classes, but my absolute favorite classes to teach are my electives: Intro to Communication/Media, Intro to Video, Journalism I, and Journalism II. I even advise our school’s TV studio, newspaper, and yearbook.
Skylar was one of my TV Studio kiddos, as well as a student in my Comm and Video courses. She was always a natural in front of a camera, so when she decided to attend Point Park University to major in broadcast journalism, I wasn’t surprised!
Fast forward to a few weeks ago, and Skylar (who is also dear Auntie to Sidney and Mario after a few days of kitty sitting after she graduated) shot me a text message asking if I’d be willing to sit down for an interview for one of her classes. She wanted to talk about blogging, teaching, and trends. Um, YES PLEASE!
The interview took place at Point Park University’s new Center for Media Innovation, and holy cow, the facility is beautiful. It was so fun to sit and chat with Sky, and I kind of forgot the cameras were rolling. It felt like old times in the TV studio!
You can watch the interview below.
It was SO MUCH fun to catch up and chat about blogging, trends, and teaching with Skylar, and I’m so so proud of what she’s accomplished. It wouldn’t surprise me if you catch her on the 6:00 news within the next several years. You may even recognize Skylar already as a host on SteelersTV and Steelers.com. Like I said, she’s a talented girl!
And please don’t judge me for calling it ‘chella.
