Hi, loves! The temperature in Pittsburgh has yet to drop (and I’m definitely not complaining!), but when it does, there’s one texture I’m stocking up on this fall and into winter: velour/velvet. Nerd alert: I actually looked up the difference between velour and velvet for this post, and it lies in the way the fabric is woven and the materials used to create the fabric (velour is an inexpensive alternative to velvet, as it’s less costly to make). So even though they’re different fabrics, I’m going to use them relatively interchangeably for this post.
Last weekend, Chris and I were able to take a break from his busy campaigning schedule and sneak away to my tiny little hometown. It was a gorgeous afternoon, so I took him on a little tour (I like to show him different areas every time I’m home) of the back road behind my house. About half a mile down the road, we ran into two horse-drawn buggies! We were dying – we felt like we accidentally time-traveled.
The only thing that reminded me that it was, in fact, October 2017 was this trendy pink velour sweatshirt from No. 14 Boutique. It’s completely sold out everywhere, but this sweatshirt from Net-a-Porter is a dead ringer. It’s a bit of a splurge, but this one from Nordstrom is a more affordable option, and this one from Red Dress Boutique is half the price. My backpack (I bought it last spring from Target!) was a perfect bag for the excursion. It’s sold out, but this one from Target is extremely similar. Mini backpacks are EVERYWHERE this fall, and they’re perfect for the weekend! And speaking of perfect for the weekend, these black patent creepers from Dolls Kill (check out their site for awesome inexpensive Halloween garb!) are a weekend staple of mine.
If you love this sweatshirt, stay tuned for a roundup of some of my favorite blush pink velvet/velour pieces that you’ll want to rock all fall long!
