Well, guys, it’s happened. Fall has finally arrived in Pittsburgh. This past weekend was damp and chilly, and I wanted nothing more than to cozy up on the couch with a cuppa coffee and The Order of the Phoenix (I started re-reading the Harry Potter series this summer, but once school started, my re-read has slowed considerably!).
However, life had other plans! Friday afternoon was gorgeous, thank goodness, because I had a styled shoot with Terri from Cerise Photography featuring dresses from Luna Boutique and flowers from The Farmer’s Daughter. A post on that shoot is coming soon, and I can’t wait to show you guys what Terri and I created! Saturday, the temps dropped drastically, and Chris and I spent the day outside tailgating with friends and then watching the Pitt football game at Heinz Field (H2P!). Sunday, Chris and I met my mom for brunch, and then Chris went home to do housework (bless his heart), and my mom and I went shopping for a Christmas tree. Can you believe it’s been three years since we’ve had a tree?! Christmas is my absolute favorite, but when we moved into our house, we quickly learned that 2 tabby kittens + 1 Christmas tree + 50ish ornaments = Disaster. This year, we think the kitties have grown up enough to leave the tree alone – cross your fingers for us!
This pearl-shoulder-embellished dolman-sleeve sweatshirt from Francesca’s is quite possibly the perfect comfy weekend wear. The pearls add a bit of feminine detail, but the sweatshirt material is soft and warm. I plan on even dressing it up for school by layering a white collared shirt underneath. And I’m sure you’re sick of seeing these high-rise skinnies from Madewell (via Nordstrom), but they’re my go-to weekend jeans. They fit perfectly! And I wore these Chelsea rain boots (which are currently 25% off!)from J. Crew on both Saturday and Sunday, and they kept my feet both dry AND warm. They don’t come in half sizes, so I sized up from my normal 7.5 to an 8, and they fit quite well.
This outfit was perfect for shopping this past weekend; it was warm, comfy, and stylish enough for brunch. It wasn’t coffee, a warm blanket, and Harry Potter (although I did wear my snitch necklace!) but it made me feel cozy nonetheless!
(The top bracelet says, “One sees clearly only with the heart,” a quote from The Little Prince, which is one of my favorite books. The bottom bracelet was a gift from a dear friend – love you, Pam! <3)
How do you stay cozy on a chilly, rainy fall day?
